For nearly five decades, Toyota Star Maker has helped launch the careers of some of Australian country music's biggest names. Now, the search is on once again.
Entries have officially opened for the 47th Toyota Star Maker competition, giving emerging country artists across Australia the chance to follow in the footsteps of Keith Urban, Lee Kernaghan, James Blundell, Beccy Cole, Travis Collins, Kaylee Bell, Max Jackson and Wade Forster to name a few.
Widely regarded as the country's most prestigious country music talent search, Toyota Star Maker has become a key stepping stone for artists looking to take their careers from local stages to national and international audiences.
The winner of the 2027 competition won't just walk away with a title. They'll receive a prize package valued at more than $100,000, including a fully serviced Toyota vehicle, a four-track EP, a return trip to Nashville, instruments from Maton and Fender, major festival appearances and industry representation through The Wheelhouse Agency.
But according to Toyota Star Maker Manager Cheryl Brown, the competition is about much more than the prize pool.
"We're looking for artists who already have a strong foundation and a real commitment to building a career in country music," Brown said.
"Toyota Star Maker is about providing the tools, opportunities and industry support to help develop that talent further. The artists who make the most of the experience are those prepared to work hard, grow professionally and embrace every opportunity that comes their way."
While only one artist will ultimately claim the title, Brown believes the competition offers valuable opportunities for every finalist.

"Even for those who don't take home the title, the experience can be career changing. Finalists build networks, gain industry exposure, grow in confidence and often leave with a clearer sense of direction for their future in music."
The impact of Toyota Star Maker can already be seen in the success stories of recent winners. Earlier this year, Jarrad Wrigley was crowned the 46th Toyota Star Maker and is currently in Nashville for CMA Fest, where he is performing on the CMA Spotlight Stage and at Sounds Australia events.
Entries for the 47th Toyota Star Maker competition are open now and close on September 1, 2026. The top ten finalists will be announced on November 9 before competing at the Grand Final during the 55th Tamworth Country Music Festival in January 2027.
For one emerging artist, it could be the moment that changes everything.
