American singer-songwriter Elle King has given birth to her second son with her partner, Dan Tooker.
On 28 February, King shared the news on Instagram. In a black-and-white image, she cradles her newborn baby on her chest as she and Tooker smile into the camera. She captioned the post, “Our family just got a little bit brighter. Welcome to the world, Royal Tooker.”
In September 2021, King and Tooker welcomed their first son, Lucky. After meeting in 2019, the couple got engaged in 2020. They briefly split up after their first child was born and rekindled their relationship in 2024.
In 2023, King explained that she’d faced a “very deep depression” while pregnant with Lucky and went on to struggle with postpartum depression.
“I fell into a very deep depression during my pregnancy,” she wrote on social media. “I also didn’t even realize [sic] how intense postpartum depression is and was until I very slowly began to crawl out. I felt trapped in my body. I couldn’t even sing.”
King found that with workouts, she was able to move forward and get through the depression.

King was primarily a blues artist until the 2020s, when she announced a pivot into country with her third album, Come Get Your Wife. The record was released in January 2023.
Before officially going country, King had previously collaborated with country artists such as Miranda Lambert on the 2021 smash hit Drunk (And I Don’t Want To Go Home) and with Dierks Bentley on Different For Girls in 2016. She is also the recipient of an ACM Award and CMA Award and has toured with Chris Stapleton and Miranda Lambert, among others.
She released two new singles last year: Baby Daddy’s Weekend in April and High Road in September. Both singles acted as follow-ups to Come Get Your Wife.
In October 2023, King toured Australia as a special guest on The Chicks’ national tour.
