Dan + Shay’s Shay Mooney Welcomes Third Child

Dan + Shay’s Shay Mooney and wife Hannah Billingsley welcomed their third child, a boy, on Tuesday, January 17.

The couple shared the news via their respective social media accounts on January 20.

Mooney, in a video that shows him singing to the newborn in a hospital bed, captured, “Abram Shay Mooney. Grateful doesn’t begin to cover it. ❤️.”

While Billingsley wrote, “Abram Shay, you’re so loved and so prayed over, baby boy. Thankful for all that God has done for us this week 🤍”

The couple first shared the happy news via a video on social media on August 12, captioning, “Mooney Baby #3! Thankful. Excited. Tired.”

The couple, who married in 2017, first announced they were expecting their third child back in August 2022. Baby Abram joins brothers Asher James, born January 24, 2017, and Ames Alexander, born February 21, 2020.

Dan + Shay is composed of vocalists and songwriters Shay Mooney and Dan Smyers. Before the duo’s formation, Mooney was a solo artist and Smyers was a member of a group called Bonaventure as well as a previous member of the band, Transition. The two met in Nashville, Tennessee in 2012, and started writing together shortly after. They released their debut single the following year.

Their debut album, Where It All Began was released in 2014, and saw them open for artists like Hunter Hayes and Blake Shelton. That year, they also made their Grand Ole Opry debut and received their first ACM Award nomination for ‘Vocal Duo of the Year.’ Their second album, Obsessed followed in 2016, while the duo’s third album, Good Things, skyrocketed them into superstardom.

The album has aided in countless wins and honours including GRAMMY, CMA, ACM, CMT, American Music, Billboard and iHeartRadio Music Awards, among others. It also added to the duo’s nearly eight billion streams globally, 39 RIAA Platinum and Gold certifications and eight #1 singles at US country radio.
