Country music is filled with performers who always give their all to their fans and are the first ones to put their hand up to help an organisation or charity. Seleen McAlister is no different, through the years she has lent her time to charities including Rural Aid, Ronald McDonald house, Farm Angels, The CWA, Country Turn’s Pink just to name a few but this time she’s the one reaching out for help.

On the precipice of her career taking off after her second Golden Guitar nomination, McAlister started down a different path, one she was not expecting.

It started with McAlister losing her sight, followed by many surgeries and hospital stays she was diagnosed with end stage kidney failure. Since 2022 McAlister has been receiving dialysis treatment three days a week for five hours at a time and has now been waitlisted for a lifesaving kidney transplant.

With her family, friends and fans by her side, McAlister continues to fight and find strength in the support and love around her despite the overwhelming mental toll and financial strain this battle creates on daily basis

A GoFundMe campaign was organised by Ron and Jaque Trundle from Today’s Country 94.1 as well as a fundraiser event A Sunday for Seleen taking place at The Beer Shed Brewing Co in Leaumeah on Sunday the 15th of December

“We have a wonderful afternoon planned with performances from Drew McAlister, Luke O’Shea, Roo Arcus, Seleen McAlister herself and a few more special guests.” says Trundle

Also taking place at the fundraiser will be a Q&A with Ron Trundle, McAlister and a specialist nurse about Donatelife to shed more light on organ donation, as well as how to register to become an organ donor.

Generous donations have been made from festival organisers at The Gympie Music Muster, Groundwater Country Music Festival, Savannah In The Round and The Deni Ute Muster. Beloved country brands such as Ariat have also made contributions towards raffles, auctions and giveaways to be held on the day.
