Nadya's 101 Candles Orkestra w Ilija Ampevski & Leonid Beshleik
FRIDAY 25 SEPTEMBER 2026 | 7:00PM
What?
“Tavern at the End of the Euroverse”
Step through the doors of the Tavern at the End of the Euroverse and into a world of wild Balkan rhythms, smoky cabaret, aching romance and glorious musical abandon.
At the centre of it all is Nadya, with the sort of voice that would still light up a room if the power failed — a contralto of extraordinary power, range and conviction, capable of moving from a whisper to a roar in the space of a song.
Behind her, the 101 Candles Orkestra creates a propulsive, thick-pile sound: brass, strings, percussion and accordion surging together
then exploding again into thrilling solos and irresistible dance rhythms.
For this very special performance, Nadya is joined by Ilija Ampevski, Leonid Beshlei and an ensemble of world-class musicians, each a master of their craft.
Drawing on the music of the Balkans, Romani traditions, Eastern European folk, French chanson and old-world cabaret, this is less a concert than a journey into another time and place.
One moment you’re sitting in Sydney. Next, you’re crammed into a candlelit tavern in a village somewhere deep in the Balkans, the rakija is flowing, the band is getting faster and nobody is quite sure what century it is anymore.
Wild, romantic, virtuosic and completely one of a kind — welcome to the Tavern at the End of the Euroverse.
The night includes a tribute saluting Tony Gatlif with special renditions of Tutti Frutti from Gadziedillo and Naci en Alamo from Benho.
All gypsy musicians and lovers of Romani music, culture and films are invited along
Doors open 7pm
