Savannah In The Round returns to Mareeba, in the heart of tropical North Queensland, this October, and festival organisers have just revealed an epic first artist announcement.

Co-headlined by Australian rock legends ICEHOUSE and American Pie icon Don McLean, rock will meet country at this year’s festival like it never has before. Organisers have also teased a massive second announcement to come which will include Nashville headliners.

In addition to the headliners, the first artist announcement features homegrown talent, including Lee Kernaghan, Ian Moss & Troy Cassar-Daley, The Wolfe Brothers, Mental As Anything, San Cisco, Max Jackson, and many others.

More rock stars, such as Chocolate Starfish, GANGgajang, Dragon, and Bachelor Girl, share the bill alongside Wade Forster, Taylor Moss, Mackenzie May, Brooke McClymont & Adam Eckersley, Rachael Fahim, Tori Darke, Australia’s favourite cover band, the Hindley Street Country Club, and more.

You can check out the first artist announcement in its entirety below.

This year’s festival will take over multiple stages at the Mareeba Rodeo Grounds from Thursday, 8 to Sunday, 11 October. Last year’s event attracted almost 12,000 individual attendees, resulting in more than 30,000 attendees over four days.

More artists will be announced soon. For ticketing and camping information, head to the Savannah In The Round website.

James Dein, festival director and chief executive officer of Sound Australia, said of this year’s impressive line-up, “These headline acts set the tone for the entire weekend. They are artists people will travel for, and they sit at the centre of a program that is designed to deliver four full days of live music and entertainment.”

Dein added that punters don’t just attend the festival, but they also interact with the tropical North Queensland region. “They camp, they explore the region, and they make Savannah part of a broader trip, which is good for the festival and good for Mareeba.”

Queensland Minister for Tourism, Andrew Powell, commented, “Savannah in the Round continues to demonstrate the strength of Queensland’s regional events calendar, drawing more than 10,000 visitors to the region, and delivering strong economic benefits.

“Today’s headline artist announcement builds excitement for another strong year for Savannah in the Round and highlights the festival’s growing national profile.”

Powell concluded, “The Crisafulli Government is proud to support events like Savannah in the Round as they encourage visitors to stay longer, explore more, and support local businesses across Tropical North Queensland.”
