Today, Countrytown proudly premieres the fun new music video from Central Coast-based singer Courtney Keil, Nothin’ Like A Sure Bet.
Anchored by a banjo and some bluegrass-meets-country energy, the music video for Nothin’ Like A Sure Bet finds Keil flipping over different cards while showing off two different glamorous outfits in three different sets. Flashes of lights, dice, cards and attitude align with the story Keil is telling.
Her unmistakable, honey-laden vocal tracks, gambling and risk-taking references make for a timeless country song.
Describing how she came up with the concept of the single – produced by Rod McCormack and Music City’s Sally Barris – Keil explained in a statement, “The concept first dropped when I was in that half-awake, half-asleep state - it’s not usually how song ideas come to me, so I quickly put some thoughts down around what it’s like to gamble on love.”
Keil said about the music video, produced by five-time Golden Guitar winner Duncan Toombs of The Filmery, “We were fortunate to film on location at the Hawkesbury Brewing Co on the Central Coast. I fell in love with the venue the first time I stepped inside for a weekend gig and am so grateful that they allowed me to film in their space.
“Duncan and I had a fun day experimenting with their giant LED screen, used different aspects of the brewery and added some quirky scenes using playing cards - as you can see, I am no card trick expert!”
