Jessie Murph is rewriting the rulebook on what it means to be an artist in 2025. With her unapologetic blend of Southern grit, pop swagger, and trap beats, she's crafting a sound that's as genre-defying as it is magnetic. Her latest single, Blue Strips, is a testament to this fearless fusion. "I just bought a mansion in Malibu," she sings in the opening line, setting the tone for a track that acts as both a revenge anthem and a celebration of personal empowerment.
Murph describes the creation of Blue Strips as a burst of inspiration, noting, "It was like a 10-minute freestyle. I didn’t really put thought into it. It just came out how it came out." Despite its rapid composition, the song resonates deeply with listeners, “immediately it just had a certain thing, some songs I feel like when I'm making them, they sound like they have glitter in them, and that was one of them” says Murph with a smile, "You normally glow up when someone pisses you off, and this song kind of feels like that."
Visually, Murph's aesthetic draws from 60s Southern femme icons like Priscilla Presley, infusing her image with vintage glamour and bold femininity. "I've always had such a love for the 60s," she shares. "I love the music, and I've always been so fascinated by Priscilla Presley and Elvis." This retro influence is evident in her fashion choices and stage presence, which exude confidence and individuality. When questioned about showing up bold in a space that sometimes doesn’t hold much room for women Murph is paving the way for future generations “I think it's important for the little girls that are coming up in this generation to realize that they can be bold and they can do whatever they want.”
Navigating the music industry's tendency to categorize artists, Murph embraces her multifaceted sound. "Put me in every box," she declares. "Honestly, my goal in my career is to be put in every box at least once." Her music seamlessly blends country storytelling with pop melodies and R&B rhythms, creating a unique sonic landscape that defies traditional boundaries.
Murph's collaborations further showcase her versatility and willingness to explore different musical realms. Working with artists like Maren Morris, Koe Wetzel and Jelly Roll has allowed her to connect with a broader audience and experiment with various sounds. "Someone I've always really, really loved is Chris Stapleton," she reveals, expressing a desire to collaborate on a project filled with soulful ballads.

As she prepares for her upcoming world tour, Murph is excited to bring her evolving sound and dynamic performances to audiences down under “I love Australia. I had so much fun there. Last time I came”. This time "It's a polar opposite show," she teases, hinting at the incorporation of choreography and stunts into her arena shows.
When Jessie Murph says she’s bringing the heat, you best believe her, she always delivers.
