The message explained that the fan’s grandma was terribly sick and that Lawrence was her all time favourite country artist. The request was simple but emotional one: would Lawrence come and play some songs for her?
So she did.
“It broke my heart to think this poor lady was sick and I was her favourite singer.” says Lawrence
Out of pure kindness, she packed up her car and drove five hours to Port Macquarie from Sydney to perform for this devoted ailing grandmother. There was no stage, there was no crowd, just a heartfelt bedside performance of some of Lawrence’s songs.
Except… there was a twist.
As Lawrence shared on TikTok “turns out I wasn’t her favourite country singer.” She eventually discovered that the fan had sent the exact same email to “every country singer in Australia”, telling the same story but Lawrence was the only one who said yes, showed up and followed through.
The icing on the cake? The grandma apparently had no idea who Lawrence was.

Instead of being upset or annoyed, Amber found the whole thing hilarious. Laughing about it now, she said she still hopes the grandmother enjoyed the private performance and the signed poster, even if she had absolutely no clue who the stranger standing in her house singing country songs at her was.
And honestly? That’s why we love Amber Lawrence. Not many artists would read an email like that, load up the car and commit to a five hour journey without asking questions. Fewer still would laugh it off publicly when they realised they’d been unintentionally stitched up.
