Never Til Now by Ashley Cooke and Brett Young – Song of the Day

Our Song of the Day is Never Til Now by Ashley Cooke and Brett Young. The track effortlessly captures the feelings of falling in love when you least expect it.

Ashley said, “Never Til Now is a song that has opened so many doors for me already and really changed my life. To be able to bring a superstar like Brett Young onto this song with me is such an honour. I’ve been a fan of Brett’s music since the start, and I feel very honoured that he believes in the song the way that I do.”

Brett added, “I first heard this song through my good friend and trusted collaborator Jimmy Robbins. I loved it immediately and I’m honoured to be a part of it with Ashley!”

Ashley first revealed that she had enlisted the help of Brett in a social media post. In the video, she teased, “Huge news… I’m adding a massive country artist to this song… wait for it… he’s about to enter into the frame… Never Til Now with BRETT YOUNG!“

Inspired by touring, Ashley set out to write an epic song about love with Matt Roy. However, it was not until she was goofing around in her kitchen making TikTok videos, that the single truly took off. She then seized the opportunity to reach out to Brett, and turn the song into a duet.

Ashley said, “When I wrote the song, I had kind of always heard a duet on it. It’s such a narration song so I was like, ‘Man, it would so cool for all these people that are relating to this song and thinking of this song as their story to get to hear the other person’s perspective on that song as a story. So My producer, Jimmy Robbins, who also produces so many people in town, we were talking about who’d be a good fit for the song and he [is] good friends with Brett.

He gave him a call and was like, ‘Hey man, I’m working with this new artist, Ashley Cooke’ and Brett immediately was like ‘I’ve heard this song’ He’s like ‘I love this song. I love her voice and I’d love to be on the song’ So it was really quick and cool how it all happened. He came in and recorded the second verse and some amazing harmonies and it is what it is today.”

Ashley had Never Til Now on her debut EP, Already Drank That Beer album — Side A, which included a collaboration with Jimmie Allen on Good Goodbye. She is co-founder of The 615 House, which features rising artists such as Priscilla Block and Tigirlily, and has gained over 730,000 followers and 6.5 million likes.
