We caught up with sister trio, Vixens of Fall to find out what songs they’ve been listening to for this week’s Front Deck Boom Box.

More Vixens Of Fall More Vixens Of Fall

Comprised of sisters Nina, Wren and Lulu, Vixens Of Fall were born and raised in the tropical north city of Cairns. They moved to Brisbane in 2000 and started their professional singing career at the Urban Country Music Festival in 2016 and have since made regular appearances at the Gympie Music Muster and Tamworth Country Music Festival.

The queens of boho country rock released their debut EP, A Love Likes Ours in 2019. The following year, they won Tamworth 'Battle of the Bands'. In 2021, they were also awarded the ‘Most Popular Independent Country Band’ at the Independent Country Music Awards and were finalists in the Queensland Music Awards for ‘Best Country Song’.

Their toe-tapping latest single, Prove You Wrong, follows their previous releases – Ain’t Goin’ Home, If You Don’t Want My Love and Scouts Honour, which debuted at #1 on the iTunes Country Singles chart and peaked at #5 on Countrytown Hot 50 Country Airplay Chart.

We caught up with sister trio, Vixens of Fall to find out what songs they’ve been listening to for this week’s Front Deck Boom Box.

Wren:

1. Runnin’ - Max Jackson

Runnin’ is a super relatable tune! “I’m runnin’ on three days of next to no sleep” - aren’t we all haha. What a talented, creative and kind human being. Max Jackson writes that working hard, having faith and having a lot of fun along the way is just the sort of magic needed to get through this crazy thing we call life!

2. The Buckley’s - Oops I Love You

I love The Buckley's song Oops, I Love You!!! It's a quirky little ode to the complications of feelings. The funky sound and the epic guitar rifts add to the fun play on moments of "love clichés" and how sometimes those silly little bits are the best part of falling in love. These three siblings have amazing energy, harmonies and whit!

Nina:

1. The Road - Laura Frank

“There’s a road you walk along”… and it should be straight to Laura Frank. Mental health can be a journey of ups and downs and this song has captured those moments in the perfect imagery. We might not get it right straight away, we may take different paths to find our way, but it takes confidence and bravery to continue your journey down “The Road”. This song is simply beautiful.

2. Hangman - Darlinghurst

What a bop!! Darlinghurst have done it; yet again. I’m all about a groove, a beat and this sure has me dancing around the place like no one’s watching! And of course, I know all the lyrics now, I’ve listened to it that many times. The high energy, the harmonies, the country rock, the sass; I LIVE!! It’s stuck in my head!!

Lulu:

1. Single Life - Brad Cox

Brad Cox is definitely the Australian Luke Combs to me! He has a raspy yet smooth voice and it’s definitely reflected throughout this song! Single Life has this rocky groove to it and the punch in the bridge will have so many people bopping along. I know that a lot of listeners will relate to the lyrics! This is on repeat.

2. Memory Lane - Adam Eckersley and Brooke McClymont

When I close my eyes and just listen to their voices, all I see are twin flames dancing around in unison. Adam Eckersley and Brooke McClymont's Memory Lane depicts the loving and fond memories of a flourishing relationship. I think a lot of people aspire to have a relationship like that. The chemistry resonates through the lyrics and in their voices. I’m a sucker for a good love song and a cheeky guitar riff.
