Willin’ and Ready by Australian singer-songwriter and guitarist, Blake O’Connor is our Song of the Day.
The track was written by Blake with Adam Eckersley and Brooke McClymont (of the award-winning sister trio, The McClymonts), and produced by multi-Grammy Award winning producer, Nick DiDia and Eckersley at DiDia’s recording studio on the NSW North Coast in Byron Bay.
Willin’ and Ready takes inspiration from The Allman Brothers’ Rambling Man (including reference in verse two 'Learnt this life from the words of a rambling man'), and incorporates influences from Tedeschi Trucks Band and Zac Brown Band.
Blake says, “It has been an awesome journey to bring this song to life. From writing to recording, it has been a high energy process that really comes out in the song. [Willin’ and Ready] is where I am at right now. I’m young, ambitious and I’m always on the move with my music.”

The music video was produced by Duncan Toombs at The Filmery, and incorporates footage from the studio during the recording session and presents the journey of an artist at work, pushing himself to deliver the best each time.
Willin’ and Ready is Blake’s first new music offering since his #1 ARIA debut album, Everything I Feel in 2019, after winning Toyota Star Maker in the same year. He later picked up the 'Best New Talent of the Year' Golden Guitar award at the Tamworth Country Music Festival in 2020.
Born in Port Macquarie, Blake has performed in Nashville, the UK and all across Australia. Recently, he has been busy touring with Sinead Burgess on their 2020/2021 Silver Linings 20-date tour, which continues until early March. From April, he will join multi-ARIA Award winning artist Diesel on the road for 3 months before kicking off his own Willin’ and Ready tour with his band.
