Black Stone Cherry play tribute to their bluesy roots with their version of the Tracy Chapman hit, Give Me One Reason. The band describes it as: "One of our favourite covers we've ever done!" It's our Song of the Day!
Formed in 2001 in Edmonton, Kentucky, the US band consists of Chris Robertson (lead vocals, lead guitar), Ben Wells (rhythm guitar, backing vocals), and John Fred Young (drums, backing vocals). Their former bassist and backing vocalist, Jon Lawhon announced his indefinite hiatus from music and touring last month, with Steve Jewell taking over responsibilities.
The band has released seven studio albums as well as three EPs to date, and have charted eight singles on the US Mainstream Rock Tracks charts. Their latest album, The Human Condition was released on October 30, 2020.
Give Me One Reason was first released on Chapman’s 1995 album, New Beginning. It reached number three on the ARIA ‘Top 50 Singles’ chart, later becoming platinum-certified with over 70,000 units sold, and remains Chapman's biggest Australian hit to date. The song earned the US singer-songwriter the Grammy Award for ‘Best Rock Song’.
