Country singer-songwriter, Katie Jayne has released an innovative new music video for her #1 single, Drunk Dial – and Countrytown has your exclusive first look, and it's also our Song of the Day!
Fun, flirty and relatable, with driving guitars and a country rock feel, Drunk Dial, is an upbeat anthem. Co-written by Katie with Matt Scullion, the song personifies the duality between knowing someone is bad for you, but wanting them anyway, and with the help of some liquid courage, making that phone call you know you will regret.
Filmed entirely on Katie’s phone and edited by Jay Seeney from Blacklist Productions, the Drunk Dial music video is a true to life representation of a girl’s night out from the perspective of a mobile phone.
Katie says, “We wanted the video to be fun and real. We had so much fun shooting it, it was different to how we normally make a video, but it works for the song and I love it.”
Originally from Dubbo, NSW, Katie began her career in the United Kingdom in 2015 as the driving force behind the duo Southern Junction. Making her debut at the Isle of Wight Festival, Katie went on to play many impressive venues including London’s O2 Arena, for the Country2Country Festival as well as the UK’s two leading country music festivals, Buckle and Boots and FSA Fest.
Now residing in Newcastle, Katie writes songs for girls just like her, while drawing inspiration from the likes of Miranda Lambert, The Chicks and Dolly Parton. A favourite in the digital landscape, Katie’s music sits at over 1 million streams. Combine that with multiple top 20 radio placements and many notable festivals under her belt, Katie continues to go from strength to strength. Drunk Dial is her seventh single and her first number one.
