Winton-based country artist Wade Forster has won the Mount Isa Rodeo Local All Round Cowboy for 2024.
Posting the achievement to social media, Forster said, “I am super proud to win this one for a couple reasons, I moved to Mount Isa in 2017 and is where my music career started with a $50 guitar.”
Also referencing his win as the 2024 Toyota Star Maker, he continued, “All of my sponsors in my Star Maker year are based in Mount Isa (bar a few). I’ve rode down this laneway a fair few times to try and get one done and now I have something to say I have.”
According to a post from the rodeo itself, Forster “missed out making a qualified run in the Steer Wrestling but when he paired up with his father Andrew on the heading rope, Wade collected a pair of heels and the two made their way to the pay window for fourth in the round and sixth in the aggregate.”

It’s safe to say that Forster has recovered from his health scare in July, when he told fans he received a bruised spine from a rodeo injury, as well as pneumonia.
It’s been a big year for the cowboy. Aside from the rodeo and Star Maker wins, Forster has also released a range of music - including his new single, Chemistry, which dropped today (August 23).
“I’m super excited to be releasing this song. I wrote it on my way back from Tamworth after winning Star Maker,” Forster said in a press release. “It’s another true story; I got ghosted by a girl and, constantly seeing her around, I think how things might have been, if it could’ve worked out, or was there really ever a spark.”
Alongside Chemistry’s release, Forster has also announced The Drifter Tour, which will kick off in November, after his performance at BIGSOUND and his run supporting Tyler Hubbard.
“The Drifter Tour is going to be so much fun. I’ve been hoping to line up a tour for all those people who have asked me over the years to come play closer to them and now I finally get to do it. Not only that, I’m bringing my band and a whole range of special guests,” Forster said.
