"Thanks to the Opry for having me and for giving this Aussie bush kid a go," Forster wrote following the milestone moment.

It feels like it’s been forever, but a little over a month ago, one of Australia’s rising country stars, Wade Forster, announced that he’d be making his Grand Ole Opry debut.

The milestone moment finally happened on Wednesday (30 September), and already, it seems that he’s made himself more than welcome on the legendary circle stage.

In a video posted to the Opry Instagram account, it’s revealed that Forster didn’t step into the circle for his performance until he was invited to. It was then that he showcased his manners, old-school class, and sense of humour.

Forster wanted to pay tribute to those who have performed on the stage before him—he refused to present himself at the Grand Ole Opry with dirty shoes, for example—in an instance of pure, unadulterated respect.

In a post he shared on his own Instagram account, Forster shared a snippet of his performance along with his introduction to the stage, which included the mention that he comes from the Queensland outback and is a two-time Golden Guitar winner. While he was on stage, Forster gave a shout-out to his mum.

Reflecting on the gravity of the moment, he captioned the clip:

I had plenty of big dreams as a kid. Rugby, rodeo, that sort of thing. But I never thought I’d end up standing on the Grand Ole Opry stage.

Thanks to the Opry for having me and for giving this Aussie bush kid a go. It means more to me than I can put into words.

What a night.

In August, Forster said of his Grand Ole Opry debut, “It’s every kid’s dream to make it to a historic venue like this, no matter what you do. I still can’t believe I get to tell everyone back home in my little outback town in Australia that I’m playing the @opry.”

The news of Forster’s Grand Ole Opry debut arrived just days after the release of his new album, The Aftermath, and ahead of his rapidly selling Australian headline tour, taking place this month and into November.

In Australia, Forster’s Aftermath Tour has been met with extraordinary demand. His Melbourne show at the Forum sold out in six weeks, while his performance at Sydney’s Metro Theatre sold out in just 15 minutes. All other tour dates have been selling fast.

With special guests The Wet Whistles and Piper Butcher joining him on tour, Forster said of the in-demand run, “Australia is my home; it’s a part of who I am. To be able to do a tour like this is something very special, not just for me and my crew but for the fans and everyone who have support me along the way.”
