After a massive event that saw Travis Collins, Amber Lawrence, Taylor Moss, and more perform this year, the Texas Queensland Country Music Festival has announced that it’s taking a break “for the foreseeable future.”

This year’s Texas Queensland Country Music Festival ran for three days – Thursday, 26 September to Saturday, 28 September – with acts performing across three stages. In addition to the acts mentioned above, the festival locked in performances by Jayne Denham, Paul Costa, Tyla Rodrigues, Jeremy Turner, Piper Rodrigues, Night Owls and many more.

The 2024 event also featured bustling markets, a dedicated Kidzone, a bar, and mouthwatering food options—everything you need at a country music festival.

Festival organisers haven’t discussed what led to its hiatus, but it arrives during an incredibly tough year for music festivals in Australia.

Premier events such as Splendour In The Grass and Groovin’ The Moo have cancelled this year’s events, Dark Mofo and the Big Red Bash went on hiatus, and Woodford Folk Festival has detailed ticketing struggles amid a cost-of-living crisis. Other smaller boutique music festivals in Australia also cancelled their events this year.

“It is with a heavy heart that we announce the Texas QLD Country Music Festival will be taking a break for the foreseeable future,” festival organisers wrote on Facebook yesterday (9 December).

The statement continued, “It’s been an incredible journey, and we are proud of what we’ve achieved together. The festival has been a mammoth effort, and our community has benefited greatly. While we’re putting things on hold for now, we want to thank everyone who has supported us along the way.”

The festival’s sad announcement follows the October news that the Texas Queensland Country Music Festival, as shared by the organisers, was set to return in 2025.

The organisers posted the news of the festival’s renewal for another year in October, encouraging punters to “Get ready for another unforgettable weekend of incredible live music, fun activities for all ages, and the best festival vibes!”
