After more than five decades shaping Australia’s most iconic country music celebration, Barry Harley is taking his final bow as Festival Manager.
Today via social media the Tamworth Country Music Festival team announced that long time Festival Manager Barry Harley will retire following next year’s 2026 festival.
Harley’s connection to the festival stretches back to the 1970s, when he first contributed to stage design for the Golden Guitar Awards a role that sparked a lifelong dedication to the event and its community.
Over the decades, he became one of the festival’s most recognisable figures, known for his vision, leadership and unwavering commitment to celebrating country music and its artists.
Reflecting on his journey, Harley said: “It’s been an incredible privilege to work alongside talented artists, passionate industry partners and the dedicated teams who make the Festival what it is. I’m proud of how far we’ve come, and am confident the Festival will continue to thrive for generations to come.”
Under Harley’s leadership, the Tamworth Country Music Festival has grown into a globally recognised destination for artists and fans alike. It’s an event that not only showcases Australian country music at its finest but also injects millions into the local economy..
