Sydney Included In Kaitlin Butts' 'Hello, Honky Tonk' Album Reveal Plans

As Kaitlin Butts readies the release of her new album, she's utilised a range of venues around the world – including Australia – to announce its contents.

As Kaitlin Butts gets stuck into her latest run of Australian tour dates, the Tulsa-born musician has been sure to include one major Aussie capital in the global tracklist reveal of her new album.

Arriving on October 30th, Hello, Honky Tonk will be Butts’ fourth studio album, and sees the Nashville-based musician utilising a character-driven approach throughout the record, serving as scenes which allow listeners to adopt the perspectives of these characters.

In announcing the record back in August, she described it as “a love letter to the honky tonks and the stages that have become my life on the road.”

This life on the road has clearly influenced her latest gambit, which saw her utilise a number of venues around the world to reveal the tracklist of her new album.

Given her love of honky tonky venues, Butts enlisted these venues to use their marquees, their interiors, and more to each reveal one track on the new record.

Some of these were close to home, including Cain’s Ballroom and the Tower Theatre in both Tulsa and Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and the Grand Ole Opry and Skinny Dennis in Nashville, Tennessee.

Others were slightly further away, including The Newberry in Great Falls, Montana; Showboat Saloon in Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin; and Million Dollar Cowboy Bar in Jackson, Wyoming. Meanwhile, there were five alone in Texas, including Luckenbach Texas in Luckenbach, Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth, John T. Floore’s Country Store in Helotes, Harry’s Northgate in College Station, and Brewster Street in Corpus Christi.

Then there were even a couple abroad, including Duke’s of Highgate in London, England and Jolene’s in Sydney, Australia.

Jolene’s were able to announce that the sixth track on Hello, Honky Tonk is none other than The Joker, which was penned by Butts alongside Jessie Jo Dillon and Sasha Alex Sloan.

Fittingly, Butts is currently in Australia for her second trip of the year – only eight months after her debut.

Performing as part of the Strummingbird line-up, she kicked things off in Ballarat over the weekend, and will wrap up her festival appearances in Newcastle and the Sunshine Coast next weekend.

Before that, however, she’ll also be making two album party appearances, first at Melbourne’s Lulie Tavern on Monday, October 12th, and secondly at Sydney’s Jolene’s on Wednesday, October 14th.
