“I am only lost because I know that there is more inside of me than what I’m currently offering the world.”

Sara Berki has shared a haunting sliver of new music with her fans, performing an acoustic reverie she penned as an ode to those who feel lost in their lives.

Performed acoustically outdoors, with Berki perched up in a camping chair – a fittingly stormy sky lighting her in gloomy grey tones – the new song (which doesn’t seem to have a proper title) is soft and lowkey but drenched in raw, deliberate emotion.
Over a gently plucked chord, she sings: “Too busy living life fast to think about where I’ve been / Tryna keep a little faith in everything while the wind is blowing me / South and north of a place where my heart wants to be / But I know what it really needs / Needs a home-cooked meal from Mama / The kind one that’ll warm your heart up / Needs a little more dirt on the tires / Needs a back 40 view and a fire / Yeah we’re all just livin’ this life, but sometimes it’s hard to see / What the heart really needs.”
I know the world can feel like it’s closing in on you sometimes, it robs you from your thoughts. At times, like a deck of cards being dealt, one by one whilst your hands are tied behind your back, it’ll speak in tongue of which you may not understand. A theme word throughout your life may be “why”. Life is harsh as equally beautiful. It’ll push you to limits like you would never believe, you will fall in love, possibly heartbreak and at times you may feel extremely lost. Plenty of times I have felt lost. But I keep reminding myself in this funny little world that yes, I am lost. But I am only lost because I know that there is more inside of me than what I’m currently offering the world. I wrote this song a little while back. I hope you enjoy it 🫳🏼

In an explanation shared alongside the clip, Berki said of the song’s thematic background: “I know the world can feel like it’s closing in on you sometimes, it robs you from your thoughts. At times, like a deck of cards being dealt, one by one whilst your hands are tied behind your back, it’ll speak in tongue of which you may not understand. A theme word throughout your life may be ‘why’.

At the time of writing, Berki hasn’t yet clarified whether she plans to release the song officially, only noting that she wrote it “a little while back”.
The up-and-coming country star – who once featured as a Countrytown Centre Stage artist – is currently working on her debut album, which is expected to arrive sometime in 2024.
Berki had an enormous year in 2023, releasing her debut EP Heartline in January, followed by three standalone singles: A Boy That’s Into Trucks in June, Favour in September, and To Love A Cowboy in December. Last August, too, she announced her engagement to longtime partner Patrick Colquhoun.
