Hailing originally from Michigan in the USA, now Melbourne-based recording artist Sandee Facy has taken out first place in the Country category at the 43rd Annual Australian Songwriters Association (ASA) Awards for 2024.

The award, which was presented to Facy in Sydney on November 28th, recognizes the exceptional talent of songwriters across Australia.

The ASA Awards span 13 different categories with hundreds of nominees vying for top honours on the night.

Facy's winning song, Best One Yet, was co-written with Nashville-based Aussie expat Michael Saleta. The heartfelt country song captivated the judging panel and earned Facy the much deserved win on the night.

Not only was Facy recognized for her outstanding song writing efforts but she was also asked to perform live to an audience of over 400 industry professionals, musicians, and music lovers at the packed event on the night of the ceremony.

“It’s an incredible honour to win this award, especially in a category filled with so many talented songwriters. I’m so grateful to Michael Saleta for collaborating with me on this song, and to the ASA for supporting artists like us. Originally from Michigan, USA, I’ve called Melbourne home for the last 18 years after marrying an Aussie, and it’s been an amazing journey both personally and professionally. This award is truly a testament to the power of collaboration and the incredible music community here in Australia.” says Facy
