Every week, ABC Country's Grass Roots program shines a light on the best independently released Australian country content. Selected from the hundreds of new tracks submitted, the one-hour program is now available on demand as well as premiering each Monday at 9pm on ABC Country, showing the health of Aussie country music across all its sub-genres. Here are four of this week's tracks you should have on your radar.

Head here to have a listen to this week’s full episode of Grass Roots.

Rex Dallas – Adrienne

Rex Dallas' new single Adrienne is a tribute to the memory of his dear wife, who after 60 years and six months of marriage, sadly passed from cancer. It has taken Rex over 12 months to compose, and recounts memories of when they first courted, all the way through to the way things are today. As the saying goes, “There is a last time for everything.”

Keely Ellen – Red Head

Bundaberg's Keely Ellen wrote Red Head with Katrina Burgoyne a few years back. It serves as a powerful anthem that celebrates individuality and self-acceptance. Red Head is a personal reflection by Keely, drawing inspiration from her own experiences of facing bullying due to her distinctive red hair, and reminds listeners to embrace their differences rather than hide them.

The Stetson Family – The Other Side

The Other Side is a song of hope when there appears to be none; staring at the gallows and hoping for a reprieve – a song about not giving up. It's the second single lifted from The Stetson Family’s upcoming album The Stars, If You Look Closely, due in April. The Stetson Family will be touring Australia nationally in 2024.
