In an end-of-year post commemorating the most successful year of his career, Australian-born, Nashville-based country music star Morgan Evans announced that he’s releasing a live album.
The live album, recorded at the Sydney Opera House in September 2023, will be unveiled in the coming months, with the singer-songwriter signing off on the final mixes. Detailing the imperfections of the recording, Evans is proud of the “real” feeling captured.
He wrote in an Instagram post, “We recorded the shows at the Sydney Opera House and I just signed off on the mixes which will be released as a live album in the coming months. I couldn’t be more proud of the way it sounds and the way it feels. It’s not perfect, but it’s real, and to me, it feels just like it did on stage that night… special.”
Evans continued, “It also feels like we captured the end of an era. And I’m extremely excited that winding road of the Life Upside Down era has led me here, well and truly right-side-up, and ready for the next one to begin.”

The news follows Evans’ festive number, Christmas In The Backyard, released in November 2023. In December 2021, Countrytown named Christmas In The Sun a Song Of The Day.
Written by Evans alongside co-writers Jimmy Robbins and Parker Welling, the beachy tune exudes the kind of warmth and joy that makes December such a special time.
Evans explained, “Growing up in Australia, all I knew was Christmas in the sun. Sure, we sang all the American Christmas songs and watched all the American Christmas movies, but in reality, we were hanging by the beach or the pool, cooking outside on the barbie and enjoying the heat of summer!
“I’ve missed home a lot the last couple of years, and this song, to me, sounds like Christmas in Australia.”
On Christmas In The Backyard, he added, “We’re coming to you from Nashville, Tennessee. It’s just started to get really cold here, but I’ve got a Christmas song coming out this Friday about all my favourite summer Christmases growing up in Australia, and also the one I’m hoping to have this year as well.”
