Melanie Dyer is kicking off an enormous national tour next month, and she’s keen to make it unique – and extra special for some incredibly lucky fans – sharing a call to arms for one of her musically talented fans to join her on the road.

The fast-rising Aussie country star took to social media with her pitch earlier today (July 11), explaining that in her own formative years, she was honoured with opportunities to share the stage with beloved acts like The McClymonts, Brad Cox and Kaylee Bell – and now she “want[s] to the give the chance to an artist to do the same for me.”

Dyer is specifically looking for up-and-coming acts to open for her in Sydney (where she’s booked to play The Beer Shed on Saturday August 31), Abermain (at Qirkz In The Hunter on Sunday September 1), Bathurst (at Little Alberts on Thursday September 5), Tamworth (at Moonshiners on Friday September 6), Melbourne (at Mantra Studio on Thursday September 12), Noojee (at Noojee Hotel on Friday September 13), Brisbane (at The Royal Hotel on Friday September 27) and Toowoomba (at the Irish Hotel on Saturday September 28).

To put yourself (or an emerging artist you love) in the running, all you have to do is comment on Dyer’s Instagram video below with an account for her to check out.

Dyer’s upcoming tour comes in support of her latest single, Had To Be There, which arrived back in May as her second new song for 2024 (following Honeymoonin’ in March). Upon its release, Dyer said she aimed to capture “the nostalgia and magic of a moment that when you try to explain it to someone, words can't do it right”.

She added: “We debuted this at CMC Rocks with the band and the crowd were whistling and singing along from the second it started. I think it's going to be a festival favourite and it’s now definitely one of our favourites to play live. I wrote Had To Be There in Nashville last year with my long-time collaborators and friends Phil Barton and Karen Kosowski, who also produced the track”.

In addition to the aforementioned eight headline shows, Dyer’s impending run will include performances at the 2024 Gympie Music Muster, Savannah In The Round and the Sapphire City Festival.
