Maren Morris ProfileMaren Morris has an unexpected collaboration on the way, with Everywhere star Michelle Branch revealing that she’s reworked her 2001 track, Goodbye To You, with Morris.
In a video posted on social media this week (18 September), Branch writes on a sheet of paper: “Will you go to prom with me?” and draws “yes” or “no” boxes. In the caption, she announced that the collaboration arrives next Friday (25 September).

As People reports, this isn’t the first time that Maren Morris and Michelle Branch have worked together. Just last month, Branch joined Morris on stage, and the pair performed Goodbye To You on stage– with the country singer teasing that they’ve recorded a version.
“As a songwriter, the very special person I’m about to bring out has made many meaningful impressions on me,” Morris said as she welcomed Branch to the stage. “We weren’t very far apart in age, and she made it seem very possible to do this at all. Nashville, y’all give it up for Michelle Branch.”
Morris added, “If you had told me, me in my room watching MTV and TRL, that we would be here tonight and you would be playing my childhood guitar, it’s nuts. But you approached me about doing this song, and we may have recorded it.”
Branch also hinted that a reimagined version of the song featuring Morris would appear on her forthcoming Everywhere and Back Again EP.
“What an honor to share the stage with my friend @marenmorris at her incredible 10th anniversary show at the Ryman on Saturday night!” Branch wrote on Instagram. “She reimagined Goodbye To You for Everywhere and Back Again and I am completely obsessed with her version of it!! Can’t wait for you all to hear it.”
In a press release, she added, "I’ve long admired Maren’s talent as a writer and performer. Having written this song in my teenage bedroom, it’s wild to hear it delivered from the perspective of a woman who really knows what these lyrics mean. It brings a whole new weight to it.
“And I’m so honored she invited me to sing it with her at the Ryman, she delivers such an emotional powerhouse vocal on this track, I can’t wait for it to be released.”
Branch’s forthcoming EP, Everywhere and Back Again, is scheduled for release on Friday, 6 November, via BMG.
