Lainey Wilson Posthumously Teams Up With Bing Crosby on 'Let It Snow'

Lainey Wilson has dropped a Christmas cracker, a version of Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! in duet with the king of the season Bing Crosby.

Wilson’s vocal has been layered over the classic from Crosby, who passed away in 1977 and continues to hold the record for the highest selling single of all time with 1942’s White Christmas. The video also nods to classic Christmas tropes, mirroring the stop-motion animation style of the Rankin-Bass TV Christmas specials that every Gen X kid will be familiar with including Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Frosty the Snowman and The Year Without A Santa Claus. In the clip, Lainey makes Hersheys cocoa (yep, even Bing is branded content now) over the stove while Bing appears with his corn-cobb pipe.

Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! is one of the great Christmas classics, first recorded by Vaughn Monroe in 1946, but with versions in the 1950s by Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin both hitting the Australian top 20. The song has also been covered by Michael Buble on his perennially chart-topping Christmas album as well as versions by Woody Herman, Carly Simon, Jessica Simpson, Rod Stewart and of course Bing in 1962. The song is notable for being the biggest Christmas song not to mention the holiday at all.

Lainey Wilson has already started the holiday season in style, performing her hit Somewhere Over Laredo mashed up with Peace, Love and Cowboys at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Somewhere Over Laredo also hit the #1 spot on the US country charts this week, making it visits to the top spot for Wilson, who also won the Countrytown Award this year for Best International Artist. She’s also nominated for Best Country Song and Solo Performance at the upcoming Grammy Awards. Next week will see Wilson perform at the Grand Ole Opry Christmas show.
