After teasing a possible collaboration before Lainey Wilson’s first-ever performance (and headline gig) at CMC Rocks Queensland, Australia’s Keith Urban has teamed up with the American superstar on GO HOME W U.
Like Urban’s recent collaborations, GO HOME W U is a pop-country tune that highlights both singers’ impressive storytelling abilities as their voices blend effortlessly.
“I wrote GO HOME W U in 2020 with BRELAND, Sam [Sumser], and Sean [Small],” Urban explained in a press release. “We had a blast writing it. It started out as a late-night drum loop; I grabbed a bass guitar and started playing a simple recurring bass line. Before we knew it, we were writing a chorus that could be sung by any drunk person in any bar anywhere in the world.”
Urban added that a friend of his suggested making the track a duet, and Wilson immediately came to mind. “Besides the fact that I love her voice, she’s got the swagger and attitude that fit so well with the song.”
On working with Urban, Wilson said, “Keith has been someone in the industry I’ve taken notes from for a while now. From watching him at CMA Fest every year growing up to hearing the way he treats people up and down music row, he has taught me a lot.
“He’s a genuine supporter of mine and I am honoured I get to continue to learn from one of the best. Getting to do a song with Keith is a notch on my belt I am very proud of.”

In March, Urban teased that GO HOME W U would be the “one duet” on his upcoming album, per American Songwriter. Wilson was in on it, teasing in a video with Urban ahead of her CMC Rocks debut, “I’m so excited to be going to your home,” Wilson told Urban.
“Oh my gosh! Honestly, I wish I could go home with you,” Urban replied. As they hugged goodbye, Urban quipped, “That’s a good song title.” Wilson concurred, saying, “I like that.”
