Lainey Wilson Receives Royal Send Off To Australia From Keith Urban

American country singer-songwriter Lainey Wilson is on her way to Australia for the first time to headline CMC Rocks Queensland, but before she arrives, she received a royal send-off from Keith Urban.

Posting a video of Urban picking her up and driving her to the airport, the pair shared a conversation about what to expect from her Australian trip. Urban asked Wilson, “What’s the first thing you think of when you think of Australia?” to which she replied, “You,” and the two burst into laughter.

Urban, born in New Zealand and raised in Australia, chuckled as Wilson admitted that her grandfather used to call her “Sheila” when she was growing up, noting that it’s a common slang term for women in Australia.

Of course, the pair couldn’t discuss Australia without delving into wildlife, including snakes and spiders. Urban shared some warnings about both, too, revealing that the “little [snakes] are usually the bigger problem” and that redback spiders “love toilet seats”. Don’t scare Lainey off before she gets here, Keith!

As American Songwriter notes, Urban might have teased the “one duet on the record” he mentioned in an interview this month during the video. “I’m so excited to be going to your home,” Wilson told Urban at the end of the clip.

“Oh my gosh! Honestly, I wish I could go home with you,” Urban said. As they hugged goodbye, Urban quipped, “That’s a good song title.” Wilson concurred, saying, “I like that.”

Lainey Wilson is on her way to Australia for the first time to headline CMC Rocks Queensland music festival and perform a string of sideshows.

CMC Rocks sold out within a week, and her sideshows were met with phenomenal demand, with promoters Frontier Touring announcing additional dates to Wilson’s upcoming tour.

After the pre-sale allocation to her sideshows was exhausted immediately, promoters saw fit to add extra shows. Wilson will now perform at Melbourne’s Margaret Court Arena on Wednesday, 20, and Thursday, 21 March, and Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on Friday, 22, and Sunday, 24 March. She’ll be joined by special guests Jackson Dean and Kameron Marlowe.
