Kane Brown has expressed that he feels lucky to be alive after being struck in the head with a golf ball, resulting in a concussion and the need for 23 stitches.

Brown revealed what happened on Tuesday (23 June) on his Instagram Stories, sharing a photo of himself with blood on his ear. He captioned the pic, “Shot to the head by a golf ball.”

In a follow-up video, the Miles On It singer said he needed to go to the hospital for a check-up, as his symptoms are likely to worsen over the next 48 hours. Sharing his positive outlook, he added, “I’m alive, and that’s all that matters.”

After he returned home from the hospital, Brown shared more details on TikTok.

“So, I got hit in the ear with a golf ball and a lot of people think that the ball came over multiple fairways,” he began. “No, this one, it was my own buddy. I ain’t going to name any names. He feels terrible, but he needs to know that I’m good.”

Adding that a doctor confirmed he’d suffered a “split ear and some swelling,” Brown admitted that he was told that it was a near miss – if the ball had struck another spot on his head, he could have died.

He continued, “It was about 150 to 180 miles an hour ball, a three-wood slice… We already hit our drives. I’m in the rough. He’s in the fairway… It went just enough time for me to do this,” showing himself moving away from the ball. “I mean, I guess technically, the best possible place it could have hit me. I’m just glad I’m here.”

Country Now notes that Brown was set to perform at the Tight Ends & Friends concert in Nashville that evening, but due to the injury, he withdrew at the last minute.

However, the evening did see Lainey Wilson bring Taylor Swift on stage for a surprise performance of Love Story, so the show has still made headlines for good reason.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Kane Brown and his wife, Katelyn, would appear on Disney’s Main Street Country EP. Together, the couple reimagined Beauty and the Beast, which Kane described as a “personal full circle moment.”
