Jelly Roll appears on the new Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre album, Missionary, as a guest vocalist on the track, Last Dance With Mary Jane.
The song features a sample of Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers’ Mary Jane’s Last Dance. Snoop Dogg wrote new lyrics for the song and trades verses with Jelly Roll.
In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Dr. Dre said the reworking of the Tom Petty song was done with the late singer’s blessing.
“I have this video clip with Tom Petty saying, ‘If Dre ever samples the song Mary Jane’s Last Dance, he’s going to have an instant hit on his hands.
“It comes along with a massive amount of trust. And you know, Snoop’s putting his entire career and his legacy and everything that he’s built in my hands. So, I have to really nurture that and make sure it’s presented in the right way.”

This week, it was revealed that Jelly Roll’s hit single, I Am Not Okay, has been certified Platinum in the US. The song has been nominated for two Grammy Awards at the 2025 ceremony.
At the 2024 Billboard Music Awards, Jelly Roll was an award winner thanks to his feature on the Falling In Reverse song, All My Life. The track won the Top Hard Rock Song award.
Jelly Roll is currently touring the US in support of his new album, Beautifully Broken (and the deluxe edition).
In a review of Beautifully Broken for Countrytown, Stephen Green wrote: “This is a man who has been through the wringer and has a story to tell. The traditional fairytale would say that he’s made it through to the other side, but the attraction of Jelly is that he’s open about this just being another part of a journey.”
