More Jelly Roll More Jelly Roll

Jelly Roll was the reigning champion at this year’s CMT Music Awards, taking home an entire third of the titles that were up for the taking.

The artist born Jason DeFord won all three of the awards he was nominated for: Video Of The Year, Male Video Of The Year and CMT Performance Of The Year. All three came at the hand of his recent hit Need A Favour, which arrived in December 2022 as the lead single from his Whitsitt Chapel album.

Notably, this is the second year in a row that Jelly Roll has taken home three CMT Music Awards (and cleared out his entire suite of nominations) – last year he won Male Video Of The Year, Male Breakthrough Video Of The Year and CMT Digital-First Performance Of The Year, all for his Ballads Of The Broken single Son Of A Sinner.

Meanwhile, Lainey Wilson won this year’s Female Video Of The Year award for Watermelon Moonshine, while Ashley Cooke won took the gong for Breakthrough Female Video Of The Year (with Your Place) and Warren Zeiders won Breakthrough Male Video Of The Year (with Pretty Little Poison).

Dan + Shay scored the title for Duo/Group Video Of The Year with their fan-favourite Save Me The Trouble, and the award for Collaborative Video Of The Year went to Carly Pearce and Chris Stapleton for We Don’t Fight Anymore.

The 2024 CMT Music Awards were hosted by Kelsea Ballerini, who also performed on the night alongside Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Bailey Zimmerman, Sam Hunt and Keith Urban. Urban’s performance made CMTs history, as he became the first artist to play the awards 20 (yes, twenty) times.
