Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit, one of America’s most celebrated country/Americana groups, will remind everyone of what they’re best at this October with the release of a new live album.

Live From The Ryman Vol. 2 will be released on Friday, 4 October, via Jason Isbell’s own independent record label, Southeastern Records.

According to a statement, the live album utilises multi-track recordings from the band’s longtime front-of-house engineer, Cain Hogsed, from four of the last six years of sold-out shows at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium. Hogsed and Isbell co-produced the album, with Nashville sound engineer Todd Tidwell providing the mixing.

Live From The Ryman Vol. 2 contains 15 live versions of songs from the latest Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit albums: 2022’s Reunions and last year’s Weathervanes. It also includes the fan-favourite The Last Song I Will Write and a cover of Tom Petty’s Wildflowers.

The band kicked off the live album campaign with King Of Oklahoma – a highlight from Weathervanes – which you can listen to below. You can pre-order/pre-save the album here and check out the complete tracklisting below.

Weathervanes was a successful album for Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit, with the group taking home two Grammy Awards: Best Americana Album and Best American Roots Song (for Cast Iron Skillet).

Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit first started playing shows at the Ryman Auditorium in 2014 and, at the time of writing, have sold out 50 shows at the venue.

This October, they return to the room, performing an eight-night residency fans won’t want to miss. You can find more information about Jason Isbell’s upcoming concerts here.

Last April, a documentary accompanying the latest 400 Unit album, Running With Our Eyes Closed, landed on HBO. Isbell said about the program at the time:

There is something about boundaries on this record. As you mature, you still attempt to keep the ability to love somebody fully and completely while growing into an adult and learning how to love yourself.
