Casey Barnes Tops Off Massive Year With ARIA Award Win For ‘Best Country Album’

White-hot Australian country artist, Casey Barnes has topped off an incredible year by winning the 2022 ARIA Award for ‘Best Country Album’, for his sixth studio album, Light It Up.

The news follows the announcement earlier this week that Barnes is one of the most nominated artists in the 2023 Golden Guitar Awards with five nominations, including ‘Toyota Album of the Year’, ‘Contemporary Country Album of the Year’ and ‘Male Artist of the Year’.

“I am absolutely blown away by this accolade and so grateful for the support from the industry and everyone that has taken the time to listen to my music, come to a show or just hang out with us,” Barnes commented. "I am having the time of my life and can’t wait to get new music out in 2023.”

Barnes has been on a hot streak in 2022 with the release of the acclaimed album, Light It Up. Debuting #1 on the ARIA Australian Country Album chart and #3 on the All-Genre Australian Album chart, the album features five smash hit singles including Come Turn Me On, God Took His Time On You, Get To Know Ya, all of which reached #1 on the Countrytown Hot 50 Country Airplay Chart and current single, Small Town.

Produced by Melbourne based production team MSquared (Michael Delozrenzis and Michael Paynter), Light It Up features ten new original songs, all co-written by Barnes with MSquared and Nashville songwriters Kaci Brown and Sam Gray. The album has spent ten months in the Top 20 of the ARIA Australian Country Album chart, while Barnes’ catalogue has amassed over 43 million combined streams.

His electrifying live show has made him one of the most popular touring acts in Australian country and the massive Light It Up tour has taken him across Australia and to the U.S, where he toured with the vocal group, Home Free.

Barnes has also been a fixture on Australian TV in 2022, with Light it Up was chosen as the promo song for the AFL 2022 season while Get To Know Ya featured on the Farmer Wants A Wife 2022 season launch campaign. He also performed the track on the romantic series.
