Casey Barnes has opened up about a terrifying car accident he and his daughter Charli were in earlier this week, telling fans that they were lucky to walk away from the incident without more severe injuries.
On Thursday night (8 February), the two were on their way home, stopped at a set of traffic lights when a driver in an uninsured large car “cannoned into the back of us” at 70 kilometres an hour (44 miles an hour). Barnes’ car was then slammed into the vehicle in front of him.
Barnes and his daughter were taken to the hospital and felt “sore and sorry for ourselves”, experiencing concussion, cuts and bruises and “pretty nasty whiplash”. However, Barnes is just thankful that they walked away and can tell the story now.
On the other hand, his Jeep will likely be written off due to damage. “Definitely one of the more scary things to happen to me, especially when you’re a father and one of your children is involved,” Barnes wrote on social media. “Grateful to the ambos and police for looking after us so well. Please be safe out there on the roads”.
In a cheeky conclusion, Barnes hinted that he’d be happy for Toyota or Ford to sponsor his upcoming tour so he can maybe score some new transport. Barnes shared pictures of his wrecked car, himself in a neck brace, and a video showing his car’s damage. You can look at his post below.
Last month, Barnes was awarded his first ARIA gold record for God Took His Time On You.

This April, Casey Barnes will perform at the Stagecoach Festival in California.
