In partnership with the Brisbane Winter Sessions and Coopers Brewery, The Triffid has organised the perfect winter event in the form of Newstead Roots Weekend 2023, which brings some of the best blues, roots, and soul players to the iconic Brisbane stage, all for FREE!

Set to span an entire weekend - July 29 and 30 - punters will have the opportunity to see the incredible soul movers Salmonella Dub Soundsystem, all the way from New Zealand, on the first night of the festival. While Life On Earth, Tessa Fleur and Mojo Webb set the scene beforehand.

On day two of the festival, Brisbane dynamites Fat Picnic will ring in the evening while Cigany Weaver, Dana Gerhman, Bricklayers, Melody Graves & The Hokum Redemption and many artists more warm up the crowd.

Salmonella Dub Soundsystem have been creating havoc on dancefloors since 1999. Known as the pioneers of Pacific-styled sub-heavy dub and bass grooves in Aotearoa, and will bring their Jams to the Triffid on Saturday night.

Fat Picnic is a soul-ska explosion that preaches punchy horn lines and bangin’ reggae beats that always bring the party. Corrupted by an unquenchable lust for groove and outstanding noises, their music ranges across dub, funk, soul & ska.

Set across two electrifying stages, featuring a sensational lineup of 18 captivating live acts, complemented by soulful DJs spinning tunes well into the night, Newstead Roots Weekender is the perfect event to quench your festival thirst, right in the heart of Brisbane.

Guests of all ages are welcome in the Garden until 5 pm, after which the festivities turn exclusively to 18+. Doors swing open at 2 pm on both Festival days.

The NEWSTEAD ROOTS WEEKENDER 2023 is proudly brought to you by The Triffid in partnership with Winter Sessions & Coopers.
