Golden Guitar winner and an Australian Independent Country Music Award winner Angus Gill has locked in a collaboration with television vet Dr Harry Cooper called Arcadian Run. The music video drops next week.
Gill revealed the news on social media yesterday, writing on Facebook alongside some images of Gill beside Cooper in the latest New Idea Magazine: “Just picked up a copy of the New Idea Magazine. Great to have a story in there with my good friends Dr Harry Cooper and his wife Suze.
“Harry’s turning 80 next Tuesday, and I turned an idea of his into a song (with Manfred W. Vijars) called Arcadian Run. Stay tuned for the video we’ll be dropping on Harry’s birthday [20 February] next week.”
To celebrate his 80th birthday, the Better Homes & Gardens star joined New Idea Magazine for a chat, revealing that his upcoming song with Gill is a “bush ballad” honouring Cooper’s beloved farm.
Cooper said about Arcadian Run, “My father was a great devotee of our Australian poets. I grew up with that. I’ve been a great fan and a friend of Slim Dusty. So, there’s a lot of Australiana in me.”
He continued, “I think my real forte is writing poetry. Angus took what is a sort of a sad poem about leaving the farm and turned it into a love story. We have a great camaraderie.”

In other Angus Gill news, the Aussie star recently revealed that he’s relocating to the US on 28 February to kickstart the next chapter of his career in Nashville.
In August, Gill joined Countrytown to unpack his latest album, Departures & Arrivals. We declared the release “some of his strongest material to date”; the LP is the follow-up to The Scrapbook (which arrived in September 2021) with a rousing palette of country, blues and folk flavours.
And on this day last year, Gill hosted Countrytown’s Front Deck Boom Box: Valentine’s Day edition. You can find out about his favourite songs here.
