Talk about friends in high places. You just never know who will be sitting in the audience when you're playing at a pub in Nashville. And that's the magic of Music City!

South Dublin’s Aaron Rowe has officially arrived. The 23-year-old singer-songwriter releases his debut single Hey Ma today, a soul-soaked, emotionally charged introduction to an artist already earning nods from some of the biggest names in music.

Raised in Monkstown Farm, a working-class neighbourhood with grit at its core, Rowe didn’t pursue music seriously until he was 17, despite early encouragement from schoolteachers. But once he committed, everything changed. Influenced by American soul icons like Sam Cooke, Otis Redding, and James Brown, as well as British legends The Stone Roses and Oasis, Rowe developed a sound shaped by lived experience, personal loss, and raw, emotional storytelling.

Songwriting became his outlet, and gigging became his grind. At one point, he was playing “four or five gigs in one day” full two-hour pub sets, clocking up to ten hours of live music. But the same pubs that sharpened his skills also delivered a little magic.

“Great things seem to happen to me in the pub,” he jokes, and he’s not wrong. While playing an impromptu set in a Nashville bar, Rowe caught the attention of Lewis Capaldi, who helped make introductions behind the scenes. One of those led to Ed Sheeran, who invited Rowe to join him onstage at a surprise St. Patrick’s Day show in Boston. Footage from that performance then landed in front of Dermot Kennedy, who also brought Rowe out during his own headline show days later.

Now, with Hey Ma out in the world, Rowe’s moment has arrived. Heartfelt and powerful, the track puts his rich vocals and vulnerable lyrics front and centre, a statement of intent from an artist who’s only just getting started.

Australian audiences are in for a treat as the Irish star heads to Australia later this year to join the Zac Brown Band on their sold out Australian tour dates.
