“I’m gonna get her to sign it I think,”

In a heart-warming twist of fate, Australian singer-songwriter Fanny Lumsden recently unearthed a Lucinda Williams concert ticket from a decade ago hidden in an old handbag. This serendipitous find has taken on even more significance now that Lumsden is a special guest on Paul Kelly's upcoming Australian tour, alongside none other than the recently announced Williams herself.

Lumsden shared the discovery with her followers on Instagram, expressing her disbelief and excitement. "Last night I used this bag for the first time in 10 years… I was just looking through it and I pulled out this, which is a ticket to Lucinda Williams on the 2nd of December 2015,” she says “This girl 10 years ago did not know that in 10 years time she would be playing arena shows with Lucinda Williams and Paul Kelly”. You can watch the magical moment below.

The upcoming tour, set for August and September 2025, marks Kelly's largest headline shows to date. Williams, a three-time Grammy Award winner known for her raw and poetic songwriting, has been added to the lineup, replacing Jason Isbell and The 400 Unit due to unforeseen circumstances. Lumsden, a two-time ARIA Award winner and nine-time CMAA Golden Guitar recipient, will also be joining them.

For Lumsden, this tour represents a full-circle moment, from attending a Williams concert as a fan to now sharing the stage with her as a fellow artist. It's a testament to the unpredictable and rewarding journey of a musician's career.
