Will Day has shared the music video for his emotional new track, Home Town, with the clip premiering exclusively on Countrytown today.
The video finds Day walking through a regional small town – anyone who grew up in rural Australia can likely see landmarks or houses similar to what Day showcases in the video – and telling a compelling story. In the video, Day plays the guitar and performs for an open mic show, walks through the town and makes us feel everything he covers in the song.
Before watching the video, Home Town itself will conjure a strong sense of uniquely Australian small towns, but with the video, Day represents the connection one has with the place where they grew up, but there’s just something missing.
Day co-wrote Home Town with Bill DiLuigi and Scott Barrier during a recent trip to Nashville. Going for something a bit more emotional than his usual output, the heartfelt ballad pulls at listeners’ and viewers’ heartstrings and showcases a more delicate side of his artistry.
Day said of the tender track:
On a recent trip to Nashville, I was fortunate to work with some amazing writers. Home Town was the first track written on the trip. It was a pleasure to collaborate with Bill and Scott; they’re amazing writers.
I’m known for releasing country rockers, so I thought it was time for a ballad again, as it’s been a few years. Jared Adlam has done a fantastic job on the production as usual. It’s a really emotive song that creates some strong imagery, so I’m looking forward to my listeners hearing it for the first time.
