Brad Butcher's 'Other Plans' serves as on ode to his hometown.

More Brad Butcher More Brad Butcher

Award-winning artist, Brad Butcher is a captivating songwriter and an unforgettable live performer – and that is evident in this exclusive acoustic rendition of his latest single, Other Plans.

Off the back of his 5th studio album Storytellerreleased earlier this year, Other Plans is as much a song about the ever-changing landscape of Butcher’s hometown of Mackay as it is about the unpredictability of the future. With an ever-mindful turn of phrase Brad has you equally entrenched in the shifting sands of our existence while seamlessly adding a personal touch on life, fatherhood and hope for a bright future.

Originally written between 2019 to 2020 amidst a pandemic, the birth of my two daughters and a wedding, Other Plans was finally recorded in 2021 between Vibetone Studios in Pomona, QLD and Dug Deep Productions – Asbury Park, New Jersey. It was produced by Brad Butcher, Benjy Pocock and Marc Swersky, mixed by Seth Von Paulus and mastered by Leon Zurvas.

Brad is a two-time Golden Guitar Award winner of Australia for ‘New Talent’ (2018) and ‘Alt Country Album of the Year’ (2020) for his fourth studio album, Travelling Salesman. His third album, From The Bottom Of a Well peaked at #4 on the iTunes Country Albums Chart and features the award-winning single, Well Dressed Man and hit single Crawl, Beg & Cry.

He featured on Camille Trail’s Holding Pattern, from her Shane Nicholson-produced debut album. The song peaked at #6 on the Countrytown Hot 50 Country Airplay Chart and achieved over 100,000 streams. He was also the 2018 Q Music Award Winner for ‘Best Country Song’.

Brad has been inspired by the familiar names of James Taylor and Cat Stevens to more recently by the lesser-known songwriters Lori McKenna and Rodney Crowell. He has showcased at Nashville's premier Americana Fest, Toronto's NXNE Festival, performed at the Golden Guitar Awards multiple times and myriad of national festivals and venues along the way.
