Fast-rising Melbourne stalwart Jess Hitchcock has today shared her latest single, Homeward Bound, with the song and video premiering exclusively on Countrytown

It arrives as our third taste of the singer-songwriter’s upcoming debut album, Unbreakable, following earlier singles I Don’t Have The Heart (which landed back in February) and On My Own (from March). The album itself is due out independently on June 30 – you can pre-order it here.

Homeward Bound is described as an ode to “the rolling emotions of finally going home after a long time away”, with an underlying sense of bliss that channels the unique feeling one gets when they finally cure their homesickness. “Home can be anywhere we make it,” Hitchcock said of the tune’s basis, “and for me it's a specific place on the east coast of Australia where I grew up. It's where many memories were made, not all good ones, but each time I return I reclaim a bit more of the places I love.”

The song was produced by Nash Chambers, while its accompanying music video was helmed by Hitchcock in tandem with Ilsa Wynne-Hoelscher Kidd (director) and Tessa Thames (stylist). Thames’ input was particularly special, as she handmade the dress that Hitchcock wears in the clip. It was all shot on location at Tiny Stays, Tooborac, Taungurung and Wurundjeri Country in Victoria.
