We caught up with Anne Wilson to find out what songs she’s been listening to for this week’s Front Deck Boom Box.
Following the release of her acclaimed #1 debut album My Jesus, Christian-country artist Anne Wilson has released a string of new versions of her latest hit, Hey Girl. A clear fan favourite for its catchy chorus and empowering message, the song has racked up more than 6.8 million views on TikTok and 1.2 million streams on Spotify alone.
“This song Hey Girl is an anthem for all women. It’s a reminder that we’re made in the image of God and that our identity is in Him. I’m so excited to [release] this multitrack single with 4 different versions of Hey Girl on it,” Anne Wilson shared. “I got to explore my artistry through this and create versions that were each very special to me. I pray this song reminds you that you’re a blood bought, battle fought, made NEW child of The King.”

I absolutely love God Really Loves Us! I remember hearing it for the first time and just weeping over it. You can really hear the heart behind every lyric. It is so beautiful and reminds me of the truth that God truly loves me despite every mistake I’ve made or ever could make. This one is always a staple in my playlists.

I heard this song for the first time as I was driving back home to Nashville. I remember feeling the Holy Spirit present and having such peace in that moment. There’s something so beautiful about the fact that God‘s love is weathered for us. He loves us in our deepest moments and in our best moments too. He has seen the worst of our days and the best of them. I’m so grateful for His love.
It’s hard to know what all Jesus would say in this day and age. This song perfectly captures that heart. I absolutely love country music and Morgan Wallen is one of my favourite artists of all time. I love the way the song is written and the reminder that Jesus wouldn’t do things the way that we might think He would.
Matthew West is one of my best friends and one of my favourite people to work with. We got to write this song for his record, and it ended up being a single for him. When he asked me if I would want to feature on this and put out a version together, I immediately said yes, and it’s been so much fun to create this version together. I love the heart behind this song and thinking about the fact that we are on Jesus’ mind every moment of every day. When Jesus died on the cross for us, we were on His mind.
I remember hearing Tenille Townes’ Jersey On The Wall right after my brother passed away and it just blew me away in the best possible way. This song is so well written and the heart behind it just melts me every time I listen to it. The perspective of being able to ask God these questions is so beautiful as well.
