Last week, Beccy Cole dropped her emotional new single, Faded Star. The music video, which is premiering today exclusively on Countrytown, was directed by Duncan Toombs from The Filmery.
Wearing her heart on her sleeve, Beccy explains, "Faded Star was written at the lowest point of my life. I was in a facility in Queensland undergoing trauma treatment following my marriage breakdown. It’s not easy to sing and it’s bloody hard thinking of where I was, but it was a necessary part of my journey back to better mental health.
“Country music has a tradition of sad songs, they heal and teach us. I have wallowed in those penned by others before but never have I written one so poignant and one so raw and revealing, but this is my truth and I’m strong enough to tell my story. To quote Hannah Gadsby, ’There is NOTHING stronger than a broken woman who has rebuilt herself…’
“It’s where I was, not where I am…I need for people who have gone through the same darkness to know that there is hope. I can’t wait to follow this with my happy story, stay tuned!”
For over 30 years, Beccy has been delighting audiences with her unique brand of entertainment. The South Australian star’s glowing warmth, husky tones, bawdy sense of humour and hundred-watt smile have helped make her one of the nation’s best- loved and most celebrated artists.
2022 saw Beccy join the esteemed list of inductees into country music's Roll of Renown at the 50th Golden Guitar awards, in June she was awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for services to country music. With eleven Golden Guitars Awards to her name (including five for ‘Female Artist of the Year’), as well as multiple ARIA Top 10 Country and Top 40 Mainstream albums, a Top 10 DVD, three gold-certified releases, and more than a dozen #1 Australian country singles, Beccy is one of Australia’s most successful singer-songwriters.
