‘Exit Wound’ by Piper Rodrigues – Video Premiere

Rising alt-country artist, Piper Rodrigues, recently released her brand new single, Exit Wound.

Co-written with fellow alt country artist, Hayley Marsten, and produced by Shane Nicholson at ‘The Sound Hole’, Exit Wound is a hopeful track dedicated to leaving the past right where it should be.

The accompanying music video, which premieres today exclusively on Countrytown, was shot by Jeremy Minett of Eyes + Ears Creative, at Hanging Tree Wines in the Hunter Valley.

"This video was so much fun to make! I really wanted to do something different and flip the narrative of the song on its head,” said Piper. “The whole process of creating this song has been so therapeutic and it's been great to carry that on with video and turn a not-so-nice situation into something light-hearted. It's a real shovel-slinging-sayonara to a part of my life that wasn't as fun as it is now."

Exit Wound follows a string of previous singles including I Hate That I Love It (2023), Ain’t That Kinda Girl (2022), Do Or Die (2022) and King Of Cups (2021).

Creating a unique and curious sound that blurs the line between commercial and alt country and still in her early 20’s, Piper is a dedicated and passionate singer-songwriter who takes influence from female powerhouses like Taylor Swift, Kelsea Ballerini, Brandi Carlile and Dolly Parton, with dashes of country, blues, pop and soul scattered throughout.
  
 Growing up an only child, Piper found music at an early age, learning her very first guitar chords from her Grandfather, who had a deep love for the craft. Her teen years were spent writing songs and diving deeper into her passion for playing guitar, piano and singing.

The CMAA Academy of country music graduate has supported household names such as Hayley Jensen and Catherine Britt. She’s achieved runner up stats in Today’s Country 94.1 ‘Brand New Star’ Competition and she was recognised as a finalist in the University of Newcastle’s band comp.
