The Country Drop PlaylistIt’s hard to argue against a new Morgan Wallen song, so we didn’t bother, but you know it’s a good week when there’s a country cover of Farnesy in the mix. Without further ado, here are the ten Countrytown drops for this week.
Morgan Wallen - Been By Now
Another tune from the prolific Wallen, Been By Now has made waves across playlists all over streaming as this one is seemingly backed in by everyone. And its easy to see why. This one’s classic Wallen, a mid-tempo stomper as at-home cruising down the highway as it is at any good pub with a pint.
Abbie Callahan - Circus
Iowa City-born Abbie Callahan got her start in auditions for American Idol and The Voice, but she’s come a long way from there. Circus is a bold statement, following up her debut album that heralded her arrival last year. She’s not a household name just yet, but if she continues delivering great tunes like this, it’s only a matter of time.
Brantley Gilbert feat. Jelly Roll - Begging For Change
Brantley Gilbert’s new album Sins of the Father dropped today (or SINS OF THE FATHER with every song title in capital letters. I hate it when labels do this). My OCD aside, the record is well worth an hour of your time and this song with Jelly is a worth addition to the drop this week.
Route 33 feat. Conrad Sewell - Two Strong Hearts

Some great songs this week but about time someone brought the party. Leave it to Route 33 to do it. Aussie legend John Farnham’s Two Strong Hearts as it turns out was just begging for the country treatment and the addition of pop singer Conrad Sewell, while an interesting choice, only adds to the vibes. From the very opening bars that are true to the original, you can’t help but fall under its spell.
Charles Wesley Godwin - Hallelujah High
Chuck’s album dropped today, an epic 13-tracker worth of your time. Announced this week as part of the Longhaul Festival lineup heading to Australia in January and with Better That Way, his song with Luke Combs still kicking around the Countrytown chart top 10, this is a highlight from the album well worthy of your time.
Sarah Catania - Nicotine
While we can’t condone the cheeky puff, we can certainly recommend getting addicted to Sarah Catania. Making her debut in 2022, this is Catania’s ninth single as she continues to improve her writing and this one’s a really strong addition to her set.
Orville Peck - Too Little Too Late
We were absolutely obsessed with Pony and Bronco (the gold vinyl is pride of place in the collection), but it was Peck’s collaborations record Stampede that cemented him as a true legend here at Countrytown HQ. This one heralds the new record Mule which will hit in September, with the album’s prologue also dropping today featuring Emmylou Harris, Noah Cyrus and Allison Russell. As per usual, the curiosity around Orville Peck’s grandiose projects is as great as the tunes themselves.
Carter Faith, Laci Kaye Booth, Baby Nova - Pearl Handled Pistol
Why release a new album when you can repackage an old one? Carter Faith’s epic Cherry Valley gets the expanded edition treatment today, adding another five tracks to the already-heaving fifteen tracker. This collaboration with Laci Kaye Booth and Baby Nova is a great tune.
DINGO - It Feels Sad To Be In Love
DINGO is Aussie singer / songwriter / producer Brandon Dodd and this gorgeous acoustic track envelopes you like a welcome winter hug. The haunting backing vocals of Kasey Chambers are always unmistakable and this one just makes you want to grab a bourbon and sit around the campfire.
Tigirlily Gold - Something To Drink About
It wouldn’t be the country drop without a song about drinking, so here’s one to round out the shout for this week. There’s something about siblings harmonising and sisters Kendra and Krista Slaubaugh tick all the boxes for us. Originally from North Dakota, but now Nashville locals, these gals are gearing up for the release of their sophomore record Country & Midwestern, dropping October 9.
