The feed good empowerment song is all about being strong, following your dreams and doing everything your own way.
Golden Guitar and CMC Award winner, Christie Lamb released her new single, Beat Of My Own Drum, earlier this month. It rose to number one on the iTunes Country Songs Chart on the day of release. We have your first look at the accompanying music video in this exclusive premiere.
Written with Jonathan English and Victoria Banks over a zoom session, the feed good empowerment song is all about being strong, following your dreams and doing everything your own way.
Although the single was recorded remotely with her producer Stuart Stuart, the accompanying music video was shot by Duncan Toombs from The Filmery. Christie had to learn to play the drums and bass for the music video, as well as a new dance routine. Choreography began in June last year with ten dancers from the Next Step Performing Arts Centre in Chiswick, NSW.
Christie says, “For the music video, I wanted to show that anything is possible. I usually play guitar, mandolin or piano, but I liked the idea of playing all the instruments myself, so playing bass and drums was definitely something new for me. I also love to dance and thought it would be great to have an all-female dance troupe to portray the dance part of the lyrics.”
Beat Of My Own Drum is the third song from Christie’s forthcoming album, following Kiss About It (we premiered it here) and Up All Night featuring Timothy James Bowen. The latter peaked in the top 20 on the Countrytown Hot 50 Country Airplay Chart back in December.
Described as ‘the full package’, the multi-instrumental and award-winning singer-songwriter was awarded the CMC Awards for ‘New Oz Artist of the Year’ in 2015 and ‘Female Artist of the Year’ in 2018 and was the recipient of the 2016 Golden Guitar Award for ‘New Talent of the Year.’

In 2019, she released her third studio album, Broken Lines which debuted at #1 on the iTunes Country Album Chart and topped the ARIA Charts at #1 on the Country Album Chart. The first single was the fun and fresh, Hot Hot Kiss which debuted at #1 on the iTunes Country Charts. The remix also debuted at #1 on the iTunes Dance Charts, making Christie the first Australian artist to have #1 hits on both iTunes charts.
Christie has toured relentlessly with her own dates across Australia and New Zealand and is quite the regular face on the festival scene. She has also been a part of national tours with Lee Kernaghan for four years, opening the show and playing piano and mandolin as part of his band. Earlier tours have included two years with Aussie legend Jon English as the lead female vocalist and musician on ‘The Rock Revolution’ tour, ‘The Girls of Country’ tour with Amber Lawrence and Aleyce Simmonds, plus ‘This Crazy Life’ tour with The Wolfe Brothers.
