CountryTown in partnership with iHeartCountry Australia is proud to announce singer-songwriter, Gretta Ziller as our Artist Of The Week, following the release of her new album, Judas Tree.
While Gretta's sound may bear the hallmarks of classic Americana music, at its essence, its far more diverse – with influences in jazz, blues, rock, pop and classical, that eclectic mix is reflected in the varied tracks on her 2014 EP Hell’s Half Acre and 2017 debut album, Queen of Boomtown. The album was long listed for the 2018 Australian Music Prize, and was nominated for The Age Music Victoria Awards. Gretta has also been an APRA PD finalist, performed at Australian Music Week, and netted two Golden Guitar nominations.
An exhilarating departure from the softer Americana poise of Queen of Boomtown, Gretta’s new album, Judas Tree deploys richly layered guitar-driven sounds, building on her roots in blues, rock, jazz, and pop. Pushing her uniquely expressive voice, kaleidoscopic sound, and deft songwriting skills to dizzying new heights, the album draws from many wellsprings: desert rock, psych, power pop, and more, capturing the sounds of inspirations from Rag’n’Bone Man to Bishop Briggs.
Featuring her singles Unlikely Believer and Stockholm, the ethereal opener, 5,4,3,2,1 and undeniably catchy, Damage Done; Judas Tree, produced by Paul Rusk with backing vocals and cello by Jen Mize, is an unmissable monument to invention, re-invention, and vision.

Gretta says, "I am absolutely thrilled to be releasing my second album Judas Tree. It's been a long and weird 18 months but I'm so glad to finally be putting out the music and I can't wait to get back to playing music live and sharing these songs with everyone!"
