Amy Sheppard is thriving in both her group career and her solo endeavors. She’s currently balancing the world tour with Sheppard while also working on her solo project, a task that comes with its own set of challenges. “It’s definitely a balancing act,” Sheppard shared. “I started this project in 2019, and I still don’t have a full album out because I’m running around with Sheppard. But in the meantime, I’ve been dropping singles where I can, doing shows where I can. It seems to be working out okay so far.”

One standout aspect of Sheppard's solo career is the opportunity to experiment with the stage. “It’s been a real learning curve working out how to work the stage,” she explained. “I’m so used to having Emma and George up there to banter with or share the spotlight. But when I’m up there by myself, I feel a bit naked, like I’m still working out what to do.” The experience is helping her to discover her own identity as an artist outside of Sheppard. “I want to find out who I am as an artist and see if I’m good enough to handle it. It’s been a challenge, but I’m loving it,” she said.

Amy's excitement for her upcoming performance at CMC Rocks is palpable. Having been upgraded to the main stage this year, Sheppard promises some surprises for the audience, including new backing singers and more extensive band arrangements. She’s also preparing to showcase her latest singles alongside crowd favourites. “I’m really excited. I’ll be doing all the hits you know and love, plus some of the new ones that are going to be on my album,” Sheppard revealed.

Her upcoming debut country album is almost completed. Taking time to lean more into her country roots, something she’s had the chance to explore further since moving to Nashville. “I’ve really tried to delve into the country sound a little bit more. I’ve been surrounded by country producers in Nashville, so it’s been a great opportunity,” she shared.

Her time in Nashville has also allowed her to dive deeper into the art of songwriting and provided a fresh opportunity to connect with other talented artists. “I’ve done a couple of songwriting rounds now in Nashville, and I’m getting used to them,” she shared. “I used to get so nervous for them, but now I feel a little more comfortable.”

She’s set to take the stage at CMC Rocks for a songwriter’s round alongside country great Cody Johnson, a moment that brings both excitement and pressure. “No pressure,” she joked. “I’m up there with one of the best country writers in the world.” Sheppard enjoys sharing the story behind her music with audiences, understanding how much people appreciate learning what inspired each song. “It just takes time to get used to delving into what’s behind the song,” she said. "All I need to do is be honest and tell them what the song’s about."

One of the songs Sheppard is particularly excited about is her new single, Mr. Mistake. The track blends sultry vibes with a message of empowerment. “It’s a bit of a trip down memory lane for me, thinking of all the 'Mr. Mistakes' I dated before finding my Mr. Right,” she explained. “It’s really about self-empowerment, reminding yourself that you’re worthy, and you’re okay without a man who’s not going to treat you right," Sheppard added. The track captures that moment of realisation when you understand that you're better off without someone who doesn't value you.

With her big year on the horizon, 2025 is no doubt going to be a launching pad for the next milestone achievements in Sheppard’s solo career. "I just can’t wait for people to hear what Amy Sheppard is all about," she concluded.
