Mitchell TenpennyTruth About You is the latest single by American country-pop singer-songwriter, Mitchell Tenpenny, and our Song of the Day.
Tenpenny released the song after he shared a clip on TikTok, which gained more than 2.5 million views in its first three days. Written by Tenpenny, Matt Alderman and Thomas Archer, Truth About You has become the largest streaming debut of his career to date.
He says, “I have the best and most reactive fans. Their instantaneous feedback is invaluable to me as an artist. There is nothing more gratifying than making music for them.”
The breakup song is taken from his forthcoming EP, set for release later his year, which also includes his inspirational previous single, Bucket List and the critically praised, To Us It Did.
Tenpenny was born and raised in Nashville, beginning his career writing songs for other artists – including If The Boot Fits with Granger Smith. He released his debut album Black Crow and single of the same name in 2015. He followed up with his 2017 EP, Linden Ave and second album, Telling All My Secrets (2018), which peaked at #5 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart. The album includes the platinum-certified number one single, Drunk Me.
