New South Wales singer Angus Gill has partnered with American country music legend Steve Earle for The New Old Me. It's a gravelly outlaw country ballad about how the roughest blokes get rougher.
"The New Old Me is the outlaw Country song I've wanted to write for a while. But I didn't have the right angle until I had this title come to me. I was catching up with my mate Allan Caswell in the Blue Mountains and I told him about this idea. We wrote the song as a duet, thinking it was one I could do with Steve Earle. Thankfully Steve loved it and recorded his part in Nashville just in time to meet my deadline.” Said Angus.
Earle first met Gill several years ago at his writing retreat in New York. The two have been friends ever since.
Kicking off early, Angus Kill started his music career at 10 years old entertaining crowds at a popular heritage theme park in his hometown. He's since opened for the legendary Kris Kristofferson and become one of the youngest Australians to perform at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville.
